Portable VMIX Production Suite
As part of our ongoing Research and Development investigations into software based production systems running on commodity hardware we have invested in an Asus Zenbook Duo to further develop our VMIX skills. The second lower screen is proving really useful for acessing the audio mixer functions at a glance. We're also using a Korg NanoControl we had lying around as a MIDI control surface controlling the audio faders.
This system has enabled us to hone our VMIX skills and support customers such as Football Clubs in developing their production offerings.
A system such as this gives an extremely low cost of entry to not just traditional broadcast functions but also the more advanced features such as Virtual Sets, In-Box Streaming and realtime On-Screen displays of not just traditional RSS/JSON feeds, but display of social feeds from the likes of Twitter, Instagram, Twitch and Facebook.
Football Club Virtual Studio Installation
Quick turnaround consultancy on a football club studio to gain greater audience share and provide increased coverage to fans. The studio was installed with an extremely short timescale and we ensured we hit hard timelines and budget limits. The base build was a 4MIX 4K system and Bird-Dog NDI cameras. This allowed the club easy access to commodity virtual sets and really 'wowed' their fan base!
Blackmagic Atem Mini
This little box of tricks really can get you out of trouble when paired with some Blackmagic cameras. We were engaged to deliver some quality and feature rich coverage when a regular client needed to demonstrate their product over a Microsoft Teams chat to a geographically diverse client base.
Calrec Remote Audio
Together with a regular client we were tasked with reviewing production technology suitable for distributed production.
Efficient Production
As it seems to be something of a theme, here we are performing an evaluation of the SimplyLive ViBox to be used for develop efficient production techniques including high quality instant replays. This platform allows a whole production to be operated by either 1 or 2 operational staff.

On this occasion I'm the wrong side of the camera. Attending the Broadcast Sport Tech Innovation Forum at BT Sport to speak on the 'Rise of the Remote Production' Panel on behalf of a regular client.
Cannes Film Festival - Facilitating Remote Workflows
Working on behalf of a 3rd party this time we are down in Cannes providing a 4K/HD ultra-low latency compression platform enabling remote production between a Paris based facility and the red carpet in Cannes. A true game changer that not only enabled exceedingly high picture quality but also at a considerably lower bandwidth, so much so that the end client no longer needed their 10G service as the streams happily occupied a 1G link.
